Fuel filter replacement on dune buggy.?
A friend of mine has a dune buggy, and wanted to replace the fuel filter on it. He took off all the hoses to the old one, bought a new 3-tube filter type, and hooked it up. He started the engine, and after a few seconds, an oil/gas mixture came spewing out of a hole behind his air filter assembily (not the air intake), so he put the old one back on, and it still did it. When i came over, and took at a look at it, it seemed like the gas was seeping from the gas tank straight into the crank case! The hoses were connected just as the old one was, one from the gas tank, one from the carb, and oddly one from the crank case. I drained the now-gas/oil mixture from the crank case, and told him not to turn it on again. Does this system have to be pressurized before it can be used, and if so, then how?
They can’t be crossed; the old fuel filter was put back in the exact same orientation as before.
Your hoses are crossed.
