Can An Electric Power Washer Be Used Outside?
Many people like to use an electric power washer for indoor cleaning applications. They run on electricity and produce no fumes, making them the ideal machine for indoor cleaning, where electrical plug points are readily available. Pressure washers are suitable for a range of different cleaning tasks, since they work to remove dirt and deposits by forcefully blasting them off the surface. These pressure washing units are available to suit different cleaning needs as well, ranging from tough degreasing to cleaning vehicle bodies. Today, more people are looking for an electric power washer that they can use outdoors, as well. The good news is that there are various models available to suit these needs.
Going Electric
There are many reasons why people are starting to switch to an electric power washer. One of the biggest advantages of using such a pressure washing unit is that there is no need to worry about pollution and exhaust. Gasoline, diesel, and propane-powered units often are not used indoors because they are loud and produce toxic fumes that can collect in areas not well ventilated. By contrast, an electric pressure washer gives off no exhaust fumes and operates much quieter.
Another advantage that an electric power washer has is that you do not need to purchase or carry around fuel. Should an operator need to use an electric pressure washer outdoors where electricity is not accessible, generators may be used. Using an electric power washer can be more convenient for the user and does not have many of the drawbacks that a propane- or diesel- powered unit may have. Contrary to popular opinion, they can also be very useful for outdoor cleaning tasks, as well.
Taking It Outside
Diesel, gasoline, and propane powered units are often used for outdoor cleaning tasks because they are portable. If a large outside area needs to be cleaned, there is a common misconception that an electric power washer cannot do the job. A number of electric pressure washing machines are mobile and can be used to clean large outdoor areas. Extra extension cords may be used in order to reach the appropriate area. There are also pressure washing units available with long hoses capable of reaching up to 300 feet away without a loss in power or pressure. In this way, a mobile or portable 1750 psi electric power washer can easily be used to clean outdoor areas with little or no hassle at all.
There are different ranges of electrical pressure washers available as well. For instance, relatively light jobs may require a 1750 psi electric power washer. Heavier cleaning tasks may require higher pressure levels of 3000 psi or beyond. For tougher cleaning tasks, it is a good idea to use an electric power washer that has the cleaning power of hot water or steam. In conjunction with optimal pressure levels, the heated water can work to soften and dissolve very tough sediments, which may be old or hardened due to outdoor exposure. Varying water flow rates are also available. For users who are concerned about exceeding their storm drain capacity or who would like to clean less durable surfaces, units are available with flow rates as low as 0.4 GPM.
