$12 a Gallon Gasoline?
You gotta be kidding me! Unless America wakes up and makes some massive changes ASAP, we’ll see quadruple a gallon gasoline- that’s $10+ per gallon. We refuse to turn our AC units up in the summer, we refuse to buy smaller cars, we refuse to build more refineries, and we refuse drilling off the coasts and in Alaska. As long as we stand pat on those issues and others, gasoline prices are going to RISE- and FAST!
And you thought $10 was high?
Robert Hirsch, Management Information Services Senior Energy Advisor, gave a dire warning about the potential future of gas prices on CNBC’s May 20 “Squawk Box”. He said there was no single thing that would solve the problem, due to the enormity of the problem. And quoting him specifically, “The prices that we’re paying at the pump today are, I think, going to be the good old days, because others who watch this very closely forecast that we’re going to be hitting $12 to $15 per gallon.”
Hirsch told the Business & Media Institute the $12-$15 a gallon wasn’t his prediction, but that he was citing Charles T. Maxwell, described as the “Dean of Oil Analysts” and the senior energy analyst at Weeden & Co. Still, Hirsch admitted the high price was inevitable in his view.
Is that sobering enough to do something different?
Worst of all, we’re FINANCING all of our enemies. Chavez is just smiling ear to ear. Ahmadinejad loves it. And so on. Let’s makes TRILLIONAIRES out of all of our enemies. Meanhile, back at the ranch (Congress), the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved legislation on Tuesday allowing the Justice Department to sue OPEC members for limiting oil supplies and working together to set crude prices, but the White House threatened to veto the measure. The bill would subject OPEC oil producers, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela, to the same antitrust laws that U.S. companies must follow.
Is it possible to elect someone to Congress that has a brain and really wants to work for the people and do something constructive. Quit blaming others. Look in the American mirror. We’re the fat cats, the massive consumers, the non-producers, the excessive eaters of energy. Don’t blame everyone else.
“This bill guarantees that oil prices will reflect supply and demand economic rules, instead of wildly speculative and perhaps illegal activities,” said Democratic Rep. Steve Kagen of Wisconsin, who sponsored the legislation. Get real Steve!
And don’t keep talking about a lame gas tax holiday for the summer that’ll save me $30!
Wall Street tanked for the second straight session Wednesday as record-high oil prices and a bleak economic assessment from the Federal Reserve deepened investors’ worry that Americans may face several more months of rising costs and a shaky employment picture. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 227 points, logging its widest two-day loss since late February.
Early in the day, stocks began falling on the surging price of oil, which shot up more than $4 and breached $134 a barrel for the first time on the futures market Wednesday. $200 a barrel oil is on the way unless we change things and do it fast. But wait, there is one other option. The high price of oil could drive the world into a DEPRESSION and then we could get back to $50 a barrel.
Anyone up for a DEPRESSION?
