Can Plants cause parasites in betta tank?

I just got my new 10 gallon tank set up, i added in my king betta into the tank to get the biological cycle started up. The tank seemed alittle empty with the only the three plants i had in the tank so i went to a local pet store to buy some floating live plants. After setting them up the betta loved them, he would lounge in the plants. I havent even had them in the tank 12 hours and my betta started brushing against the wall and against the other plants and gravel. Did the new plants cause parasites or something in my betta? i removed the new plants just in case

It is possible….but most parasites need a host and plants are not usually kept with fish (here anyway).

Your fish is ‘flashing’. My fish ‘flash’ when there is going to be an ICK outbreak or when my ammonia etc are too high. They usually flash to itk since they dont have hands lol and both disease and bad level of nitrate etc cause trigger ick. It is also highly possible that your Ammonia is simply up to high. Have you done any water changes? And how old is the tank?

Keep in mind sometimes it ok and they just wanted to scratch, more then once or twice a day then i be a little more concerned.
