HEPA Filter Air Cleaner: Matters You Should Know
When air cleaners were first produced, they came out to the market as simple gadgets that can remove bad odor from your home. But as time evolved, and as technology came to be more evident in our world, air cleaners that used to be simple transformed into something that can be used not only in homes but in other important institutions as well. Such is true with the HEPA filter air cleaner system.
Nowadays, the use of such a filtering machine is not only limited to basements or living room spaces, they can be placed in areas that need it the most – in hospitals, rehabilitation centers and in nuclear fuel plants.
How it Started
The HEPA filter air cleaner started to be manufactured in the year 1940. It first came out during the outbreak of the Manhattan Project where radioactive contaminants were found to be present in the air. Over the decades, the air purifiers with no filter systems were replaced with more complex forms of the same equipment genre. They satisfied the higher demands of air quality among our highly technologic world.
They are currently used by pharmaceutical companies, health care institutions, nuclear power plants, the aerospace industry and even in computer chips. The highly efficient gadget proved to be such an excellent tool that it had a 99.99% reliability percentage. Even now, the HEPA filter air cleaner is still greatly utilized.
How it Functions
The HEPA filter air cleaner functions in three ways, namely interception, impaction and diffusion. Because they are composed of randomly ordered fibers, they are very effective when it comes to filtering capacities. They trap pollutants and other hazardous elements that can cause illness. They fist act to intercept a line of air stream that is one radius away from it.
The air adheres to the filters and thus the first process starts. The second step involves impaction where huge molecules are filtered by the minute fibers in the system. The particles become smaller and smaller as the air moves through the set of fibers laid out in the system. Lastly, the air undergoes diffusion where it collides with other gas particles.
The HEPA filter air cleaner system has indeed a lot of uses. It is proven to be very efficient in eliminating all the harmful particles in the air we breathe. Although we cannot fully eradicate all the environmental hazards in the air, we can definitely lessen it through the use of a HEPA filter air cleaner system.
