I need plans for a floating arm trebuchet?
I have to build a floating arm trebuchet that hits a 10 foot, 20 foot, and 30 foot target. Any ideas?
You appear to have two questions.
First, plans are available from Trebuchet.com. Not free, but they’re the best.
Second, are you asking how to vary the range? There are various ways. Changing amount of counterweight, changing how high the counterweight is before firing, changing missile weight, changing sling length and changing “release pin” angle will all affect range.
I can’t see why you would build a FAT to throw such tiny distances though. I stuck together a simple hinged-counterweight machine that will fit into a 2 foot cube. It throws tennis balls 65 feet using 15 lbs of counterweight. FATs require a lot of precise work to function properly.
