How many fish can i put in,?
a 47 gallon tank? i went to pet smart and was told i can only put in 2 fish because of the ammonia, but i have a aqua cleaner bio-max filter, i bought this tank so i can breed either Pleco or Semi- aggressive tropical fish, any logic in this pet smart story?
pleco are bottem feeders.
I already have filtered my tank for 48 hours, does that make a difference?
Im not looking to breed the average pleco, im looking to breed bristle nose pleco that only grow 4-8 inches…..
The person at Petsmart meant you should only START with 2 fish. Keep them in there for a couple of weeks while the tanks Nitrogen cycle builds up to process the waste ammonia. Then you can build up the fish numbers over time, allow 6 weeks for the tank to fully cycle.
How many fish? That depends what you are keeping.
But if you intend breeding then it’s best to just keep the parent fish, so you may only want a pair of cichlids or a trio of Bristlenose plecos. Other fish will just interfere with the breeding and when you get them to breed you have to rear 20-100 fry.
